Verify a Certificate

Verify a Digital Evidence Certificate

Check that an e-Dex certificate is genuine and unaltered — no installation needed. This page recomputes the certificate’s SHA-256 integrity seal entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API; the certificate is never uploaded, so even sensitive evidence is safe to check here.

What this check proves — and what it doesn’t

It proves: the certificate’s content matches its own cryptographic seal, i.e. the certificate has not been edited or tampered with since e-Dex generated it. If the file shows Signed or Timestamped, those were recorded by e-Dex at creation.

It does not prove: who created the certificate or whether the underlying case is genuine. Authenticity of the signer is established by the embedded PAdES digital signature and RFC-3161 timestamp, which the e-Dex desktop app validates cryptographically.
