Right-click the ZIP → Extract All, then run
e-Dex.exe from the extracted folder.
Don't run it from inside the ZIP — the app is a self-contained folder and needs its
runtime / app files alongside it (that's the bundled Java, so no separate install).
Nothing is written to Program Files or the registry; to remove, just delete the folder.

About the SmartScreen Warning
"Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting."
This is normal for unsigned software. To proceed:
- Click More info in the SmartScreen dialog.
- Click Run anyway.
- The installer wizard opens. Accept the End-User License Agreement and follow the prompts.
The General Availability release will be code-signed, after which Windows will no longer display the warning.

HTML reports carry their own SHA-256 inside. Change one character and the report reports that it has been tampered with.
Section 63 / 65B Certificate
Generate a pre-filled, digitally-signed electronic-evidence certificate under Section 63 BSA 2023 or Section 65B IEA — with the literal Part A / Part B Schedule form, PAdES / DSC signing and an RFC‑3161 trusted timestamp.

The installer displays the End-User License Agreement on the License page of the wizard, and you must accept it before installation proceeds. You can read both documents in advance:

Why does Windows show a SmartScreen warning?
e-Dex is an unsigned release build. Windows SmartScreen warns about all unsigned software. Click More info → Run anyway to proceed. The General Availability release will be code-signed, after which the warning will not appear.
Do I need to install Java separately?
No. The installer bundles a stripped-down OpenJDK 24 runtime. You do not need Java installed on your machine.
How big is the download?
The Windows installer is approximately 65 MB. It contains the bundled Java runtime, JavaFX UI libraries, Bouncy Castle cryptography, SQLite database driver, and the application itself.
How do I verify the installer is genuine?
Run certutil -hashfile e-Dex-1.4.0-Setup.exe SHA256 in Windows (or shasum -a 256 ... on macOS/Linux). The resulting SHA-256 must match the value published on this page. If they don’t match, do not run the installer — contact us.
What does the End-User License Agreement cover?
The EULA covers hostname-bound licensing, permitted use, read-only operation guarantee, audit-rights for license compliance, and Maharashtra (India) jurisdiction. Read the full text via the “EULA” link above before installing.
Can I install this on multiple computers?
Each license is bound to a single hostname/hardware fingerprint. Installing on additional machines requires additional licenses. Multi-seat commercial licensing is available for forensic labs, audit teams, and government departments — contact Pallavi on +91 8484859088.
Does e-Dex send any data to your servers?
No. All case data, audit logs, snapshots, and hashes stay on your local machine. The application does not transmit anything to Innovativa SoftTech as part of its normal operation. Optional anonymized crash diagnostics require explicit per-event consent.
What if my antivirus blocks the download?
Unsigned forensic tools are sometimes flagged by aggressive antivirus heuristics. Verify the SHA-256 first — if it matches, add an exception in your antivirus and re-download. If your antivirus still blocks it after verification, contact Pallavi.
